Privacy Policy — FaceTrack3D
Last updated August 3, 2026
FaceTrack3D is an iPhone app published by Gordon Liang (“we,” “us,” or “our”), doing business as FaceTrack3D. It uses your iPhone’s TrueDepth camera to create 3D face scans and help you track changes in facial puffiness over time.
FaceTrack3D processes and stores face data on your iPhone. The app does not send your face data to us or to any third party.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Face data
When you start a scan, FaceTrack3D collects:
- 3D face mesh: a series of coordinates representing the surface of your face.
- Facial photographs: front-facing images of your face captured through your device camera.
- Head position and orientation: how your face is oriented in space.
- Puffiness score: a numerical score for facial puffiness, calculated on your iPhone from your scan and saved with the scan date.
1.2 TrueDepth and ARKit data
The face data described in 1.1 are captured during a scan using Apple’s TrueDepth camera and ARKit face-tracking technology.
FaceTrack3D does not collect Face ID information or authentication data.
1.3 Habit entries
Outside of face data, FaceTrack3D saves:
- Habit entries: habits you choose to add to your routine, such as reducing alcohol consumption.
2. How we use your information
2.1 Face data uses
We use your face data for the following purposes:
- Scan alignment: ensure your face is captured from several angles.
- 3D model: create and display a 3D model of your face.
- Puffiness score: calculate a numerical score for facial puffiness.
- Progress tracking: let you compare scans in your gallery and timeline.
- Image thumbnail: display a thumbnail of your face in the snaps gallery.
We do not use face data for advertising, analytics, tracking, identity verification, biometric identification, user recognition, or machine-learning training.
2.2 TrueDepth and ARKit data uses
We use TrueDepth and ARKit data for the purposes described in 2.1.
We do not use face data for advertising, analytics, tracking, identity verification, biometric identification, user recognition, or machine-learning training.
2.3 Habit entry uses
We use the information you enter for the following purposes:
- Routine: add habit entries to a daily plan to encourage consistency.
We do not use habit entries for advertising, analytics, tracking, or machine-learning training.
3. Storage and sharing
Saved scans, meshes, images, scores, and habit entries are stored in the app’s private storage on your iPhone and protected by iOS data protection.
The app does not upload this information to us, a server, or a cloud service. FaceTrack3D has no user accounts, backend server, advertising SDKs, or third-party analytics SDKs.
We do not sell, rent, license, or share your face data.
Your data may leave the app when you choose to:
- share an image or file through the iOS share sheet;
- save an image to your photo library;
- transfer your data to another device; or
- include app data in an iPhone backup.
Those actions are controlled by you and may be subject to Apple’s or another service provider’s privacy practices.
4. Retention and deletion
Saved face data remains on your iPhone until you delete it. The app does not automatically expire scans.
You can delete your data by:
- deleting an individual scan from the Snaps or Timeline pages;
- selecting Settings → Delete all data; or
- deleting the app.
Deleting a scan removes the mesh, images, score, and other information saved with that scan. Settings → Delete all data removes all scans, images, meshes, habit entries, and app settings stored by FaceTrack3D.
Deleting data from the app does not remove copies you previously saved to Photos, shared with another app, transferred to another device, or included in an earlier backup.
Because we do not receive your face data, we do not retain a separate copy and cannot access, retrieve, or delete it for you.
5. Camera and photo-library permissions
FaceTrack3D may request the following permissions:
Camera: Required to scan your face. The app explains how the camera is used before requesting access.
Add to Photo Library: Optional and requested only when you choose to save an image. The app does not read or browse your photo library.
You can change these permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Apps → FaceTrack3D.
6. Account information
FaceTrack3D does not require an account and does not ask for your name or email address.
7. Children
FaceTrack3D is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
A parent or guardian can remove locally stored data by selecting Settings → Delete all data or deleting the app.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information.
Face data stored by FaceTrack3D remains on your iPhone, where you can view and delete it directly. We cannot provide, correct, or delete face data that we do not receive.
You consent to the use of the camera and face-tracking features when you accept the in-app notice and grant camera access. You can withdraw that permission at any time through iOS Settings.
For questions or requests concerning an email you have sent us, contact us using the address below.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top.
If we materially change how face data is collected, used, stored, or transmitted, we will provide notice in the app before the change takes effect.
